Oh man. I am 99% certain that SFMods would not be a thing today were it not for your Jogurt mod that was released all those years ago. I was blown away that the worst character (ever!) could actually be reinvented and made awesome. Jogurt is responsible for SFMods!
This was another SF2 hack that helped introduce me into the world of Shining Force modding. A very simple but clever premise that effectively gives you five new characters to play as. Cosmetic or otherwise, I really enjoyed this one. Cheers, SG!
As someone whom hasn't really played much of SFCD, it's really cool to see what Sega was able to produce the second (or third?) time around, and how you were able to build on top of it. Thanks for sharing more great artwork!
A very cool alternative pose. His form looks better than Sega's original artwork, so I think this would serve as a great set for Gort and let Luke keep the original. Thanks for sharing your work, SG - great to have another pixel artist on board!
I wasn't actually aware that newer, more advanced tools were available. Perhaps I'm just getting too old and behind the times. I'll get your page reverted now.
I'd love to hear more about what sort of tools are currently available for SF2 modders to enjoy.
I feel that in some way, because neither Hanzor nor Musashi (or Domingo - he's on the list, too!) included a Promoted variant, that they aren't as fleshed out as other Force members.
Also, I realy enjoyed balancing out the stats for Musashi so that my Promotable variant will acquire the exact...
A Promoted Hanzou design has been on my to-do list for so long now; I'd love to see him given the Promoted look and feel that he deserves. I've been using the Resurrection of Dark Dragon GBA remake artwork as inspiration for designs for other characters, but I have to say that I'm not a big fan...
Yeah, the shin guards make some sense, but the gauntlet has thrown me a little. I'm not sure why he didn't opt for chest armour, too. He seems to be strong enough to carry that futuristic armour in his promoted state.
Part of me wonders if perhaps Max had been maimed by an enemy before...
I don't recall it ever been mentioned at any point during the game. Is it some sort of medieval prosthesis? I'm currently in the process of putting together a design brief for the Max to female heroin sprite set job, and as part of the feminisation, I'm really considering replacing the gauntlet...
Great sets, @Erikin84! I personally prefer Kane's map sprites that use the 'enemy' palette, but to be honest I can hardly make out the colours when I'm playing the game. The broken helmet portrait designs also looks spot on! Good job!
@Xeno Oh man, I was pretty off about Uranbatol, then. Such a shame that Earnest's backstory was not better portrayed in the westernised version of SF1.
