Hi, my name is Nick and my brother and I came across Shining Force as a wrong game in a Blockbuster video rental. It became one of my top three games of all time being SF, FF7, and Oblivion were my favorite gaming experiences since the late 80's. Ive always wanted new story lines, characters, and challenges with the same graphics and turn based game play. I don't need people jumping all around, a sic one hit animation and character backstory goes a long way. I also just need to be challenged more because I've run through SF1 and 2 too many times and can predict the enemies at this point. If anyone has any recommendations where i can start playing fan version that would be awesome, if not no worries. I should be good on emulation advice only looking for mods to try.

Seems like a happy accident.
For suggestions I'd suggest Shining Force Alternative. I've heard its pretty hard, but well thought out.
You could try my mod Shining Force 2 Community Mod (Season 1 and/or 2) If you play on ouch it can be pretty difficult.
The Eternity mod is also pretty good from what I've seen.
